HOW DOES THE OFFER SYSTEM WORK?
Victoria
There are two seperate processes when it comes to early entry.
1: Apply for the early entry program
Complete the application by the close date. Depending on the university, you will need to apply direct to the university early entry web portal or you may have to apply via SEAS. You may also have to submit paper work and ask Sandie to complete paper work on your behalf.
2: Formally apply for the courses via VTAC
You will be required to formally apply for courses at all public universities in Victoria through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Applications open on Monday 29 July and timely applications close on Monday 30 September. You can change your preferences (add/deleter/reorder) by certain dates between offer rounds. For the December round, the date is 14 December (4pm).
Through VTAC you can:
- Apply for up to 8 courses using a preference system (1 being your most desired course)
- Submit a SEAS application (Special Entry Access Scheme)
- Submit a scholarship application.
- Upload any required documents or evidence to your account.
VTAC does the hard work for you. They will send your ATAR and VCE results, SEAS application, and scholarship application to the universities on your preference list. They will also communicate with you if you have received an offer.
You will only be eligible for ONE course offer per round, and most offers will be made to Year 12 students on Monday 23 December this year.

But what about any early entry offers I may receive?
In Victoria, you don’t actually receive formal offers through early entry. The offers change the selection criteria you need to achieve for courses in your VTAC preference list. See the example below.
Jane wants to apply for nursing courses. She speaks to Sandie and discovers she can apply for early entry and guaranteed ATAR programs at the following universities.
Apply direct to the university
La Trobe University | Aspire Year 11 Conditional Entry | Regional campuses |
Aspire Community Contribution | All campuses
Australian Catholic University | ACU Guarantee | All campuses |
Charles Sturt University | Charles Sturt Advantage (Early Offer) | Albury-Wodonga campus |
Federation University |
Early Offer Program | All campuses |
Apply via SEAS
Monash University | Monash Guarantee | All campuses |
The following are the Guaranteed ATAR/selection rank requirements for Jane’s VTAC preferences before she receives early entry offers. As selection ranks aren’t published until January 2025, she doesn’t know what selection rank she will need to gain entry into her desired course. She will need to obtain a raw ATAR of at least 50 to be eligible for courses at some of the universities.
University | Campus | Minimum ATAR to be eligible for the course | Guaranteed ATAR | Lowest Selection Rank |
La Trobe University | Albury-Wodonga | N/A | ?
La Trobe University | Melbourne | N/A | ?
Monash University | Peninsula | 70+ | N/A | ? |
Federation University | Ballarat | 50+ | 70 | ? |
Charles Sturt University | Albury-Wodonga | N/A | ?
Australian Catholic Uni | Melbourne | 50+ | N/A | ? |
Jane is successful for each early entry application. This is how the ATARs/selection ranks for her VTAC preferences look now. Some courses now have a lowered guaranteed ATAR. La Trobe, Charles Sturt and Australian Catholic University have removed the ATAR requirement for their courses.
University | Campus | Minimum ATAR to be eligible for the course | Guaranteed ATAR | Lowest Selection Rank |
La Trobe University | Albury-Wodonga | N/A | N/A (no longer requires an ATAR)
La Trobe University | Melbourne | 55 | N/A (has a guaranteed ATAR)
Monash University | Peninsula | 70+ | 70 | N/A (has a guaranteed ATAR) |
Federation University | Ballarat | 50+ | 70 | N/A (has a guaranteed ATAR) |
Charles Sturt University | Albury-Wodonga | N/A | N/A (no longer requires an ATAR)
Australian Catholic Uni | Melbourne | N/A | N/A (no longer requires an ATAR) |
Jane will need to carefully order her preferences as she will only be eligible for one offer per round. Based on the list above, as long as she achieves the prerequisites for nursing at La Trobe, she will be offered her first preference as it’s the highest course she is eligible to receive an offer for. Learn about the preference system below.
